Shortly after El Malpais, we got to El Morro National Monument. We read before that there are more than 2000 inscriptions carved into the rocks. I was keen to see them... But how different it was! We expected ancient Indian petroglyphs, and what we found were mostly carvings and inscriptions from Spanish settlers! Nevertheless, it was actually quite interesting, and there were a couple of Indian carvings as well... I was amazed as to how beautifully written some of the inscriptions are. Most people wouldn't be able to write as nicely on paper!
