Vacation 5: Monument Valley - Mexican Hat - Gooseneck Park

Today we left Grand Canyon via Desert View and headed towards Utah and Monument Valley. On the way we got a first glimpse on Monument Valley, but since we wanted to see it next day, we kept going and had a nice break at Gooseneck State Park, before we returned to Monument Valley to our campground.

First glimpses on Monument Valley:

Gooseneck State Park is an eerie place. It was hot and a calm... The photos show where the place got its name from.

One of my favourite photos: An unusual view on from
Gooseneck State Park to Monument Valley (in the far distance)

The rock where the town of Mexican Hat got its name from

Our campground next to Monument Valley

Right next to the campground there was a trail to the "Hidden Arch". We went up just around sunset, and encountered amazing rock formations in the most beautiful colours. We fooled around with the camera a lot ;-)
