And then we went on to Grand Canyon. In wise foresight, we had booked the campground for two nights well in advance. When we arrived there was a sign saying "Campground full - reserved sites only". The sign was up all the time we were there... Now, it is extremely difficult to pick photos of Grand Canyon. We took a total of 422 photos, and one is almost as good as the next. I had been there in 1986, but what I did not remember was just how big the Canyon is! It pretty much blew me away, and we spent hours and hours walking along the South Rim at various times of the day. The following is just a selection of the many photos, including a few of various wildlife we encountered.
There were three deer right on the campground. This particular one
had some strings entangled in its antlers - another good photo for classes (impacts).

Almost every National Park in the US has an amphitheatre, where park rangers offer regular evening programmes, giving talks and presentations on various topics around the respective park. We went to a very interesting presentation about the history of Hermits Rest, the western part of the accessible area on the South Rim.
Arts Studio and shop
Native American performance at Hopi House
Bighorn sheep
Californian Condor
The second morning I got up at 5:30am and walked to the Rim to watch the sunrise. It was a spectacular hour, with the most beautiful colour play imaginable. Once the sun was up, the Canyon was bathed in a warm morning light...
