The last "desert-stop" of our trip was Joshua Tree National Park, already in California. We arrived late afternoon, and entered the park at the south end. Our campground was at the north-west end, so we had to cross the park, leave it at the north entrance, drive a bit, and re-enter it at the north-east entrance. On the way we came past Cholla Cactus Garden. It looked so nice, that we decided to stop, have a walk and take some photos. Oh no - more cactuses??? yes, let's call it "Cactus Impressions 3", haha! But I promise these are the last ones - at least until I will be in Argentina ;-)
looks almost like a coral reef...
We reached our campground after dark, and saw that it didn't have electric hook-ups. But we saw a site with a hook-up and pulled in. Only later did we realise that this is the camp manager's site, and thus the only one with a hook-up. Oh well, we decided to stay there and if he/she shows up we would play dumb (not difficulkt for us)...;-) Well, he/she never showed up, so we had a good site for the night.
Next morning we went back into the park at the north end and stopped at one of the many rest areas at the foot of some rock formations. I walked around a little and took photos.

We also briefly stopped at Cholla Cactus Garden again, to take some photos at daylight, because the fading light yesterday required a high ISO speed, and thus the photos got a bit grainy...
